Prior to founding EJ&A, Mr. Jenkins, reporting to the CEO, served as the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) for Pepco Holdings, Inc. (PHI), a Fortune 300 company in Washington DC, with 5,000 employees and four union locals. He was instrumental in designing, leading and implementing multiple business and people initiatives that provided value both in terms of financial ROI and employee engagement including: culture and business transformation, M&A, cost reduction efforts, executive/leadership development, talent management, process improvement and change management.

He has been a key team contributor to several multi-year, business transformations and cost savings programs in the hundreds of millions of dollars. As a trusted advisor to the Board and the company leadership team, he led and facilitated improved and aligned human performance systems and processes.
He successfully engages stakeholders internally and externally, and advises Boards on HR compliance & best practices, executive compensation, employee engagement programs, process efficiencies, change leadership, professional development and leadership succession.
A passionate community service and youth advocate, he has served at the Board level and as a mentor and volunteer in multiple youth-oriented nonprofits, including the YMCA, Sickle Cell Council, Isshin Ryu, MESA, and the Posse Foundation.
Ernest was a locomotive engineer & elected into both his high school & college Halls of Fame (Basketball).
A strong advocate of education and lifelong learning, Ernest holds dual Masters degrees in Human Resources Development & Management from Webster University, Albuquerque, NM and an undergraduate degree in Secondary Education from Howard Payne University, Brownwood, TX. He holds multiple certifications in training and leadership development, talent management, executive leadership, and recognized human performance methods and systems. He has earned the Senior Professional Human Resources certification
